Mathematics 742: Methods of Applied Mathematics II (Winter, 2013)

Course Information

Course Objectives: The course covers mathematical analysis of linear and nonlinear partial differential equations. Topics include distributions and tempered distributions, Schwarz space and Fourier transform, linear operators in Hilbert spaces, interpolation of operators, Sobolev spaces and embeddings, and quantum mechanics.

Assignments: Four home assignments will be handed out in class on Monday every third week, starting the week of January 14. The assignments are due on Wednesdays in the following week. The texts for assignments and solutions will be posted on the course webpage.

Project: The course is completed by a presentation. Details of the presentations will be announced in March.

Presentation - 40%
Assignments - 60%
